Think about how the space will be like to work in. You are the one who is ultimately going to use the kitchen so grab your tape measure and map it out in full size. Make sure the layout will suite your needs.
Some house design software can be a difficult thing to learn how to use. I find most people just starting out don’t take too long to figure out how to use the basics, such as drawing walls adding some plumbing accessories and even drop a roof on the project.
After mastering these simple tasks it can be a little more difficult to then create a plan that is to be handed in to your local council to receive a building permit.
Having to produce sectional drawing and interior cabinet designs can take a little longer to learn. Not to say that these tasks, along with a host more are unachievable, quite the contrary it just means you need to take the time to learn.
For a large group of people trying their hand at house design software for the first time, they are not necessarily interested in using all the features that most house design programs have as standard. Most are just happy to design a floor plan of their dream home, that has been until this point inside their imagination and now it’s time to get it on paper. And maybe even a 3D image.
Once the layout and general design is finished, then they will just take their newly designed house plan off to a professional. Who will complete the project and finalise all the relative documentation the council will require.
Some may say that this group of house design software users have wasted their money buying the program if they contract the final works out to a drafting service. To answer that I would say no! They haven’t wasted their money. They were able to achieve a basic design of their home and in a lot of cases much more detailed design.
This will be a great help to the professional that will finish off the project, having the house lay out completed before they begin. It will be quite likely that cost will be much lower than if you had no idea or design of what you would like your dream home to look like.

The extra features will sometimes be wasted on a novice user, who doesn’t have a need to produce working drawings or a photo quality image of different areas throughout the project.
Something that a lot of people searching for 3D drawing software fail to understand is to achieve a rendering of their new design is a long process. It will also require a computer with a good graphics card and enough grunt to drive the program. Most of these programs have different levels of rendering quality that can be produced; the higher the quality, the longer it will take your computer to render the image.
To view your design in 3d you don’t have to create a rendering, most programs will create a 3d image on the fly with the click of a mouse. Viewing an image in 3d is different than a rendering; in 3D you can fly around the house as if you were in a helicopter circling the home, similar to a video game. Wear as a rendering is a flat image like a photo or a brochure.
